Number 66 went up for auction today with historics at brooklands.
The finish of the CSK was poor considering the restoration cost. Trim panels hanging off, rust underneath. It had not worn well since the restoration in 2009.
It started at 8k and sold for 26k!! That's over 29k with fees.

I thought this vehicle had been professionaly restored albeit with different coloured seats but it seemed to look nice, an appreciating asset and a nostalgic prize posession for those that couldn't afford the £1998 ( 1998 was also the cc of the new Dolomite Sprint ) back in those days.

Was it Lord Rothschild that had spent so much money on it or am I thinking of another CSK.

Peter.

Yeah it had a big restoration in 2009. It had a lot of welding done as was rusty to start with. It seems they have done all the bad bits but there was still rusty bits. A lot of money was spent on the inside but again it's not great. The door panels were coming off, the centre console was lose and the "piano black" wood looks like the walnut was just sprayed black.

It looked great in the pics, and if it was as good as it sounded it would be worth it.

Christ!

OK, I know the interior was "nice"; but it wasn't original and some bits were badly restored / cared for, and some of it was still rusty; so £20,000 (ish) is a hell of a lot of money for a CSK!

Not that many years ago a reasonable car would cost you about £3K and a decent one £8K. It seems now our cars have inflated to the point where a decent one is worth OVER £20K!

*I'm running off to make sure the restoration work on mine is flawless!*
CSK 109: Genuinely 34K miles, genuinely unrestored, genuinely in need of some TLC.
