Gents,
Yesterday I suddenly noticed an ominous ticking noice from the bowels of my nr 050, while engaged in gear. The ticking speeds up noticably while revving and disappears when I disengage the gears (N or P). This brings my to believe that the problem (?) is either the gearbox op the propshaft. At first I thought the camshaft had gone.
Any suggestions as to what might cause this? I sort of had a hellish nightmare of having to sort out a full gearbox revision.
Cheers

Re: Ominous ticking - gearbox or propshaft
Does the noise change / amplify / frequency alter with speed?
Could be a CV or something in one of the diffs

Hello Stuart,
Yes.... it is getting noticable after about 5 mins of driving (gearbox nicely warmed up?) and increases with the revs and is clearly lower when idling.
Any clue?
Robert
